Dr Yao joined the Hand and Upper Extremity Service at Stanford University Medical Center in 2005. He graduated from Cornell University Medical College in 1999. His Orthopaedic Surgery residency was completed at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine / NSUH-LIJ Health System in New York in 2004, where he was voted the Surgical Intern of the Year in 2000 and the Orthopaedic Surgery Resident of the Year in 2001. He completed the Hand and Upper Extremity surgical fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Philadelphia Hand Center in 2005. He earned his Orthopaedic Surgery Board Certification in 2007. He learned his Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand in 2009. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University in 2012, and the rank of Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University in 2020.
Dr Yao has clinical training and interest in the treatment of disorders of the entire upper extremity/limb, including the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. He is specifically trained in the minimally-invasive and arthroscopic treatment of common upper extremity problems including fractures, arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries and nerve compression disorders. This minimally-invasive approach is unique and highly sought after by patients. His clinical volume is quite extensive as he sees over 3000 patients per year. -

Dr Anil Bhat is a Professor in Hand surgery with a postgraduate teaching experience of 24 years. He serves as a faculty in Kasturba Medical college, Manipal at Manipal academy of Higher education which is the topmost private university of India. His main clinical expertise in Hand surgery is Wrist related pathologies, Wrist arthroscopy, Congenital hand differences, upper limb sports medicine and elbow pathologies.
He has a passion for research and has 106 International and national publications, and has guided 35 MS postgraduate theses, 4 MCh thesis and 7 PhD theses. He has authored 1 book and co-authored one book.

Dr CHAN Ping Tak is a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Tuen Mun Hospital, Hong Kong SAR. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor (Honorary) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong. His special interest is in congenital hand anomalies and wrist surgery. He was the President of the Hong Kong Society for Surgery of the Hand from 2016-2018. He was elected as the Chief Censor of the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons from 2020-2022. He obtained a Master degree in Medical Education from the University of Dundee in 2024. Dr Chan has been teaching wrist surgery at the Hong Kong International Wrist Arthroscopy Workshop since 2011. He has been one of the co-directors of the Beijing JST International Wrist Arthroscopy Symposium and Workshop since 2015. Dr. Chang assumed the role of attending surgeon within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at National Taiwan University Hospital in 2015. Graduating from National Taiwan University Medical College in 2007, he completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at National Taiwan University Hospital in 2014. Achieving Orthopaedic Surgery Board Certification in 2014, he furthered his expertise by becoming qualified as a Specialist in Surgery of the Hand in 2015.
With a focus on disorders affecting the upper extremity, encompassing the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, Dr. Chang possesses specialized clinical training. His expertise lies in employing minimally-invasive and arthroscopic techniques for a spectrum of upper extremity conditions, including fractures, arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, and nerve compression disorders.
Dr. Chang's dedication extends beyond clinical practice to the realm of research. He actively explores the advancement of arthroscopic and minimally-invasive surgical methodologies for managing upper extremity disorders. Additionally, he delves into the utilization of biodegradable polymers in treating bone defects and basal joint arthritis. His research contributions have been showcased through numerous presentations at regional, national, and international conferences, reflecting his commitment to sharing knowledge and advancing medical science.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Dr. Chang was honored with the prestigious American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) international traveling fellowship in September/October 2017. Moreover, he served as a Visiting Scholar at the Hand & Upper Limb Center at Stanford University in USA from 2019 to 2020, learning from the famous Professor Jeffrey Yao and his team for upper limb surgery and basic research.

Dr. Chang is a board certificated physiatrist and a Certificated Interventional Sonographist (CIPS) certificated by World Institute of Pain (WIP). He excels in diagnostic and interventional ultrasound for musculoskeletal disorders. He is also skilled in meta-analysis, a statistical method widely used in evidence based medicine. He has more than 350 publications indexed in PubMed. He is the founder of “MSK ultrasound club” in Facebook, a well-known on-line platform for experts in musculoskeletal ultrasound. He is the organizer of USMSIT (Ultrasound Musculoskeletal Workshop in Taiwan) and NMUSIT (Neuromuscular Ultrasound Workshop in Taiwan), both of which are dedicated to education of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular ultrasound for health practitioners all over the world. He is also the chief editor of Asian Pacific Journal of Pain since 2022.

Dr. Wei-Jen Chen is an orthopaedic surgeon with specialization in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. He received his fellowship training in 2005 in the sports medicine division of orthopaedic department in Taipei Veteran Genral Hospital after his orthopaedic residency. He joined Show-Chwan Memorial Hospital since 2007 and started his journey of wrist arthroscopy under the mentorship of Dr. Jui-Tien Shin in 2008 and the mentorship of Dr. PC Ho in 2010. Currently, he is director of sports medicine division in orthoparedic department of Show-Chwan Memorial Hospital with special interests in arthroscopic surgeries of wrist, elbow, shoulder, knee and hip joints and is the co-director of the wrist arthroscopy course of IRCAD-Taiwan. He was also one of the founding members of the Asia Pacific Wrist Association.

Shihheng Chen is a hand surgeon with plastic background from Taiwan. He obtained his PhD in biomedical engineering with biomaterial research related to peripheral nerve regeneration. He also underwent two years of fellowship in Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery. Chun-Yu Chen, MD, PhD, serves as an Attending Surgeon at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan, where he has been affiliated since 2015. As of 2024, Dr. Chen holds the Chief of the Division of Musculoskeletal Diseases position and formerly led the Division of Traumatology. As an assistant professor with a strong focus on upper extremity surgery, hand/wrist/elbow arthroscopy, microsurgery, and soft tissue reconstruction, he has significantly contributed to the fields of upper limb trauma and wide-awake surgery.
Dr. Chen completed his medical degree at the National Defense Medical Center, Taiwan, and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at I-Shou University. He further honed his expertise through clinical visits to Nara Medical University Hospital, Japan, and the University of Michigan's Comprehensive Hand Center, USA. His leadership extends to roles such as Teaching Secretary-General at the Taiwan Society for Surgery of the Hand and Deputy Secretary-General of the Taiwan Orthopaedic Trauma Association in 2022-2024.
Dr. Chen has co-authored hand/wrist surgery textbooks, such as Wide Awake Hand Surgery and Therapy Tips(Thieme, 2021) and Operative Techniques: Hand and Wrist Surgery, 4th edition (Elsevier, 2021). Dr Andrew YH Chin was formerly the Head of Department of Hand Surgery, Singapore General Hospital from 2009-2018. He is the current director of Wrist services at the Department of Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery, Singapore General Hospital. He is also Clinical Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS School of Medicine, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
Dr Chin chairs the Joint Co-ordinating Committee of the Hand Surgery Integrated Residency Programme in Singapore that oversees the conduct of training and curriculum competency of the hand surgery residency programme in Singapore. He is actively involved as speaker and faculty in the teaching and education circuit for the Asia Pacific Wrist Association (APWA), the International Wrist Arthroscopy Society (IWAS), Singapore Society for Hand Surgery (SSHS) and the AOTrauma (orthopaedic trauma) organization.
As Chairman of the 8th APWA congress held in Singapore from 31 May to 3 June 2023, Dr Chin oversaw the planning and successful execution of the event held jointly with the 13th Asia Pacific Federations of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (APFSSH), the marquee Asia Pacific Hand Surgery meeting.
He sits on the executive board of APWA as Secretary-General and also in the IWAS board as the Course Co-ordinator for South Asia region. He is also a Regional Education Training Team member for AO Asia Pacific. Dr. Chow is an experienced hand surgeon based in Hong Kong. She has received training in several renowned institutions, including Chang Gang Memorial Hospital in Taipei, E-da Hospital in Kaoshiung, and Seoul National University Hospital in Korea.
Dr. Chow has developed expertise in various areas within hand surgery. Her sub-specialty interests include wrist arthroscopy, small joint arthroscopy, microsurgical reconstruction, and congenital upper limb differences. These areas of focus reflect her dedication to treating conditions and injuries related to the hand and wrist.
Dr. Chow is actively involved in both local and international hand meetings, where she shares her knowledge and experience. She has been invited as a speaker in various meetings, including the APFSSH (Asia Pacific Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand) meeting in 2023. Her participation in these meetings allows her to contribute to the advancement of hand surgery and collaborate with experts in the field.
Furthermore, Dr. Chow has been invited to serve as course instructors in different local and overseas cadaveric wrist arthroscopy workshops. Notably, she has been involved in organizing the Hong Kong International Wrist Arthroscopy Workshop and the IRCAD-Taiwan Wrist Arthroscopy Course.
Dr. Chow has also made significant contributions to the field through her publications. She has authored numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on hand and wrist surgery. Her publications serve to disseminate knowledge, share best practices, and contribute to the overall body of research in the field.
